Diana Louise DeGette ( dih-GHET; born July 29, 1957) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Colorado's 1st congressional district, which is based in Denver, since 1997. Previously, she served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1993 to 1997. She is a member of the Democratic Party. A progressive, DeGette was first elected to Congress in 1996.
