James Dennis Scholten is an American Democratic politician and former professional baseball player who has represented District 1 in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2023. He was the Democratic nominee for Iowa's 4th congressional district in 2018, when he narrowly lost to incumbent Republican Steve King, and again in 2020.
