Lucia Simonelli is a mathematician and climate-policy researcher from Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Maryland and completed a UNESCO postdoctoral fellowship that took her to teach in countries including Iran and Ecuador. She later worked as a researcher and scientific adviser on energy and climate policy in the U.S. Senate, in the office of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, and has worked for a Washington, D.C. nonprofit on federal climate policy.
