Peggy Flanagan

Peggy Flanagan is a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe who has served as Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota since 2019 as Governor Tim Walz's running mate. Before that she served in the Minnesota House of Representatives (2015-2019) and on the Minneapolis Public Schools Board, and worked as a community organizer. In February 2025 she announced a campaign for the U.S. Senate to succeed the retiring Tina Smith, won the DFL Party endorsement at the state convention in May 2026, and advanced to the August 11, 2026 Democratic primary.
