Terry Virts is a retired NASA astronaut and retired U.S. Air Force colonel who piloted Space Shuttle mission STS-130 in 2010 and commanded the International Space Station as commander of Expedition 43 in 2015. In June 2025 he declared his candidacy as a Democrat in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Texas for the seat held by Republican incumbent John Cornyn.
