Charles Ernest Grassley (born September 17, 1933) is an American politician serving as the senior U.S. senator from Iowa, a seat he has held since 1981. Since 2025, he has been the president pro tempore of the United States Senate, a position he also held from 2019 to 2021. He is a member of the Republican Party. Grassley was first elected to public office in 1958, serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1959 to 1975. [Wikipedia ↗]
