Derek Dooley

Derek Dooley is a former college and NFL football coach and attorney, and the son of legendary University of Georgia coach Vince Dooley. He earned a law degree from the University of Georgia and had head-coaching stints at Louisiana Tech and Tennessee, plus assistant roles at LSU and in the NFL. In his first run for public office, he launched a 2026 Republican U.S. Senate campaign in August 2025 with the endorsement of Gov. Brian Kemp, but lost the June 2026 Republican runoff to Rep.
